I began my journey in construction at the young age of 19, advocating for gender equality alongside my work ensuring fair opportunities for women. Through these experiences, I gained proficiency in various trades, but it was electricity that captured my passion. During my early years, I contributed to projects in New York’s tunnels and bridges, yet I later opted for less perilous work, prioritizing stability. Pursuing a deeper understanding of business management, I embarked on studies while concurrently working as a Quality Specialist on Wall Street.
In the wake of the 9/11 tragedy, I felt drawn back to my true calling: electrical work. Concurrently, I acquired my real estate license, enabling me to both sell homes and undertake renovations post-sale. This led to the inception of Martin & Sherard LLC, a contracting company I co-founded with a childhood friend. Together, we revitalized brownstones, commercial properties, and undertook a diverse array of projects, ranging from small-scale endeavors to large-scale renovations. Additionally, we provided interior design services for select homes.
Following many years of collaboration, I transitioned to focus solely on electrical work within the Local unions, where my passion thrived. Over time, I contributed to numerous prestigious projects for entities such as Radio City, Morgan Stanley, WeWork, Chase Bank, Citi Bank, CUNY Schools, New York University, Brooklyn Public Libraries, and Presbyterian Hospital, among others.
Despite my deep ties to New York, I felt compelled to embark on a new chapter and relocate to Pennsylvania. Here, I found a fulfilling role as a Project Manager with Illuminated Integration, where I continue to expand upon my electrical career. As I embrace this exciting journey, I invite you to stay tuned for what lies ahead!
